Coach Sofia
Coach Sofia, originally from Mexico, fell in love with soccer when she was 8, and has been playing ever since! As a young player, she represented her state at national tournaments, then went on to captain her high school team and play varsity soccer.
With more than a decade of coaching experience, Sofia has worked with adults and children of all ages and abilities in her hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico, and her newfound home of Vancouver. Over the years, she’s coached competitive teams in the Metro Women’s Soccer League and BC Coastal Soccer League, led adaptive programs for children with Down Syndrome and diverse needs, and even ran a free, drop-in summer program in a park with the neighbourhood kids!
Her experience has led her to develop a unique approach that blends foundational soccer with child-centered pedagogy. Qualifications include:
Canada Soccer C License Certificate (CONCACAF)
Montessori Sports Certificate (AMI Montessori)
Early Childhood Education Assistant (UBC)
Coach Sofia creates fun, child-centered programs that support each player’s confidence, development, and joy, on and off the field. Sofia believes that soccer is more than just a game, it’s a powerful tool for confidence, connection, and lifelong learning.
